婆娑羅シリーズ
婆娑羅とは、今から４００～５００年前に流行した日本の文化を代表する感性で“粋で華美な服装や、目立つ振る舞いを好む美意識”です。
私の硝子作品「婆娑羅シリーズ」はその中世の美学に立ちかえり“強く明るい美しさに憧れる心”を表しました。
西洋の文化である硝子と、日本古来の文化である箔や漆を融合させ制作しています。
BASARA SERIES
The term “BASARA” describes a sensibility fashionable in Japanese culture some 400~500 years ago. It marks an esthetic that prefers beautiful, stylish dress, together with mannerisms that stand out and catch the eye. The glass pieces in my BASARA series recall this medieval esthetic, expressing a yearning for a vividly forceful beauty, which is at the same time cheerful and bright. They are created from a fusion of glass from Western culture with traditional Japanese lacquer and goldleafing.
